The downhill finals held on April 24 featured elite mountain bikers from Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, China and other participating countries and regions.During post-event interviews, coaches and athletes from several nations shared their competition experiences and impressions.
‘This is my first time in Zunyi, and it’s an amazing place—the scenery and forests are incredibly beautiful. I’m very happy to be here.I’ve competed in similar championships in many countries, but honestly, this is one of the best Asian Mountain Bike Championships I’ve ever attended. ’Iran coach Mehdi Rahnama said.
‘I’m really enjoying this championship. Everyone here is friendly and supportive. The mountain terrain is challenging for me because we don’t have mountains like this in Singapore. ’Singaporean athlete Akid said.
‘The people are very nice, and the track is excellent—I love riding here.’Philippine athlete Steve Velayo said.
‘The natural landscape is unique. The mountains are steeper than those in Japan. I’d love to come back next time.’ Japanese athlete Yuga Ikuta said.
‘I especially like this track because it helps me gain more speed. In fact, this might be my best performance ever in Asia relative competitions. ’Philippine athlete Riska Amelia Agustina said.
Nearly 300 elite mountain bikers from 15 Asian countries and regions competed fiercely in events including the team relay and cross-country races.
